TGIAF

Thank goodness it's almost Friday. Ted has one more chemo treatment left this week. I know that he will be glad when it's over. This week has been tough on him. In addition to the five-days of "kryptonite" (as Ted calls it) ... he had a flat tire (blow out) on Tuesday on the way to work. And then Wednesday morning when he got out of the shower, his tube came out and the machine started beeping. We had to call the 24-hour phone number and ask them what to do.
Phone ringing
Operator: Texas Oncololgy
Me: My husband has a fanny pack of chemo and the tube just came out of his port. The machine is beeping.
Operator: Don't try and put it back in.
Me: (I think I said) Da .... (like I would actually do that??)
Operator: He needs to go to the office as soon they open.
Me: Okay. How do we stop the machine from beeping?
Operator: Take the battery out.
Me: Okay. Where is the battery?
Operator: It's on the back of the pack.
Me: (Removing battery) Okay. The beeping has stopped.
Ted: Tell the idiot I need to go to work.
Me: He needs to go to work. Is anyone there now?
Operator: They open at 8:00.
Me: It's only 6:00. He really wants to go to work.
Operator: I'm sorry, ma'am, they open at 8:00.
Ted: Tell them ..... (better not post that) ....
Me: Thank you. He will be there when they open.
Disconnect.
Needless to say, he was late getting to work. Not a good way to start the day, especially since he had to go get hooked back up at 8:00 and then go back again at 11:30 for his Wednesday chemo.

Today he went in at 11:30 and got home at 4:00. He was very tired when he got home, so he did rest a little bit.

Tomorrow is Halloween and I have a costume for him. I don't know if he will wear it, but I will post a picture if he agrees. It is perfect for Ted! I gave you a little hint ... don't give it away if you guessed it! You'll have to wait and see.

Happy Halloween and Happy Friday to all! (Tina)

FANNY PACK IS BACK

Here's the "good news" today! Ted is receiving the 2nd round of ESHAP chemo this week. (Tina) Here's the bad news ... Ted is receiving the 2nd round of ESHAP chemo this week. (Ted)

I am hooked up to a good-sized Mueller fanny pack for the next five days. I will be done using it on Friday and want to know if any of you girls need it for the trip to Canton on Saturday. It has an adjustable belt with three very nice zipper pockets. Please do not use it to store a turkey leg. I need it back in two weeks. (Ted)

As you can tell, Ted is feeling quite well today ... He even asked me to take this picture of him with the fanny pack. (Tina)

THEY'RE HERE!

Lyla and TJ arrived ... in that order ... they are beautiful and healthy!
Lyla Lane weighs 6 lbs. and TJ (Fred Theodore Fett, IV) is 4 pounds 7 ounces.
We have seen a little video and pictures from cell phone to cell phone ... but we don't have anything clear enough to attach to the blog. We will post a picture as soon as we can!

HOPE AT THE END OF A LONG DAY!

Today Ted spent the day doing testing. It started at 9:00 at Baylor Dallas where they drew 22 (not a typo) ... they actually filled 22 tubes of blood. He counted them. After that, they gave him milk and Gatorade. Oh, yeah, that's a good combination! Then he had a MUGA test, which is a test on his heart, to check his cardiac chambers and valves. That test took about an hour. Then they gave him a lunch break. About 1:00 he went in to visit with a pulmonologist for more testing. At 2:30 his appointment was with a social worker who asked, "Do you have any questions?" Ted said he thinks she wanted to see if he was crazy. Just to be safe, he told her he didn't have any questions.

In the waiting room, Ted met a woman who was there with her husband who had a stem cell transplant about 15 days ago. He was doing VERY well so far! There's the question ... and the answer! Hope ... at the end of a long day! (Ted & Tina)

BRYN MAWR HOSPITAL OR BUST

As promised, here is the exciting news! This is a picture of TJ and Lori on the front porch of the soon-to-be home of TJ and Lyla Fett. These two little blessings are scheduled to make their appearance on Friday, October 24th! Doesn't Lori look fabulous! Oh, and TJ (dad) looks ready, too! They have been told that each baby looks to be well over 5.5 lbs! Hopefully, we will have pictures to post as early as Saturday!

NO CHEMO THIS WEEK

Although Ted won't be getting chemo this week, his numbers did improve. They are postponing the chemo until next week.

As far as the comments about his socks, Ted is wearing shin guards ... so there! We got a good laugh that you all noticed that! While we try to be fashion conscious over here, we don't want you to think that he would actually wear white knee socks. And he has thrown his tube socks away. Come on, people, at least he isn't mowing in his Speedo! I told you we are trying to keep it family-friendly.

Please do check back tomorrow so we can fill you in on some really exciting Fett Family news. Just to give you a little hint ... here is a picture of the front porch ... can you guess who will be living here soon? (Ted & Tina)

YARD WORK ON SUNDAY

Here is a picture of Ted doing what he loves! Yard work.
Tomorrow he is scheduled to go to the oncologist to get his second round of the ESHAP chemo. When he went to the office on Thursday to have his blood work done, they told him his counts are still a little low, so we won't know until tomorrow if he is able to start or not.
The plan is that he will get the chemo Monday-Friday. Then he will have a CAT scan and PET scan and bone marrow test (after another 10 days or so) and then visit with the stem cell transplant team to see how things are progressing to go forward from there with the transplant, which may take place sometime in November.
That's a really shorthand version of what the plan is for now. There will be a lot of waiting to see how things go from here.
Everyone keeps asking me what they can do for us. Ted keeps joking with me to post some recipe requests ... but I told him that he better be serious because we have some very thoughtful family and friends ... and we might end up with 10 casseroles. So for right now, we don't need any food ... really! But we will let you all know if there is anything we need.
For now, please continue to pray with us! Pray for Ted's numbers to be good ... for the chemo to do it's thing ... and that he will fully recover! (I'm Ted Fett and I approved this message!)

BORING IS GOOD

I read somewhere that you are supposed to have a catchy title so that people will want to read your blog. While that might not sound like a catchy title to you, let me explain. Tonight Ted and I went to eat at Quizno's and then went to Bed Bath & Beyond and bought a set of sheets. See what I mean, that is boring. But considering that Ted felt good enough to go out and eat and do a little shopping ... that's exciting in our world right now! So that's the post for now ... just to let you know ... right now we are happy with that ... and to us boring is good! (Ted & Tina)

THE FIRST POST

"Welcome" to all of you who have never visited Bloggersville. Those of you who know us pretty well will not be surprised that I have officially entered the land of blog, but you will be surprised to know that Ted is going to co-blog with me (or am I co-blogging with him?) YES, you read it correctly, Ted is going to post here, too. I have warned him that this is a G-rated blog, or as they say now "family friendly" blog, but you may want to monitor the kids until we see how it goes. :) This should be interesting! (Tina)
(Note: We will end each post that way so you will know who the author is.)
